The development prototype was spotted in the Alps by an observant Italian who caught a few seconds of video with sound from the bike.
We know that BMW is preparing the next generation of the legendary GS by increasing the boxer to 1300 cc, as there have already been official reports (by mistake!) on its website with entries for R1300GS, R1400GS, but also M1300GS .
Without official information, the issue is left to our imagination, with speculations that the 1400 will not necessarily be a version with a larger displacement but possibly the new name of the Adventure version, but also the M1300GS which is essentially described by the title - and the previous experience with the With BMW four-cylinders.
Along the way, the German Motorrad reported that the engine has moved close to 1290 cc and its performance rises to the neighborhood of 150 hp.
Various photos of the bike on test ( 1 , 2 ) have given us a glimpse of what to expect, with the very odd front end placing a small light fixture low on the fender. It's the third time the new GS has been answered with this muzzle, and now we're starting to think that maybe it's not just a temporary solution for the test mule, but the new design of the R1300GS.
In this case the face redesign may have to do with the use of a radar system, which is highly likely to happen as it is the new fad in safety equipment and has already found its way into the competition, with BMW also now applies to models such as the R18 and R1250RT.
This new video, which you'll find just below, doesn't make us any wiser about the new R1300GS, but it does confirm that its launch is coming soon. And we have a very good reason to expect it in the 2023 range, as this is the year BMW completes 100 years since the production of its first motorcycle.
What better way to celebrate than by introducing the new generation of the best-selling bike in its history?
